Frequently asked questions.
Where is your dog home boarding service based?
Our property is situated on the edge of the Worcestershire village of Childswickham, close to Broadway and Evesham. However, we accept dogs from all over the Cotswolds, the Midlands and London and the Home Counties.
How can I contact you?
You can contact us by telephone, on 01386 853 028 or 07972 472271. If our phones are busy, or we are out walking the dogs, please leave a message and your call will be returned shortly. You can also email me or use the enquiry form within this site. We will always try to reply as soon as possible.
How far ahead do I need to book?
As far ahead as possible. We expect to get very busy at times and hate to disappoint. We are very happy to accommodate last minute bookings. If you do have an emergency, you can call us any time of night or day.
Is every dog suitable for home dog boarding?
We provide a family environment which is suitable for friendly, family dogs. We cannot take any dog which exhibits aggressive tendencies, or is not socialised. No dog is perfect, but we like our doggy guests to be reasonably obedient, calm, and certainly non-aggressive. We can cater for puppies. If you have any questions or concerns about whether your dog would be suitable please call 01386 853 028. Kevin or I will be happy to discuss your requirements with you.
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
Yes, we will need a copy of your vaccinations card. Your dog must also be wormed and treated for fleas.
Does my dog need to be medically insured to stay?
No. Whether you take out veterinary insurance is completely your decision. Some owners like to have their pets insured & leave the policy details with us, others prefer to pay for veterinary expenses if & when they are required.
What will happen if my dog is ill while I am away?
If we believe Veterinary treatment is necessary we will take your dog directly to your own vet, in preference, or otherwise to our own local vet. Any costs incurred will be reclaimed from you on your return. According to your instructions as to whether you’d like to be contacted & the nature of the treatment we will contact you on your emergency number. We will discuss what has happened and keep you updated of your pet’s progress.
My dog is rather old and takes medication?
We go the extra mile when taking care of senior and invalid dogs. We understand their needs. A nice quiet, comfy spot in the lounge or our cool hallway is what we have found most older dogs prefer. We will ensure all medication/tablets are taken as prescribed by your vets instructions.
What do I need to provide for my dog’s holiday?
You will need to provide your dog’s food so he/she stays on the same diet. If your dog has fresh food as part of their diet you will need to provide this cooked and frozen. If your dog is on medication you will need to provide this, along with instructions of how to administer the medication. We advise that you provide some bedding that smells of home. You may also wish to provide treats, bowls, and toys.
Please pack the following:
Any medication and instruction regarding administration.
Your dogs bed.
Any treats allowed.
Lead and extendable lead, if used.
Car restraint or seat belt, if your dog uses one.
Grooming brushes, if used.
Will my dog be let off the lead?
This depends on your wishes, (you will be required to state in writing if you do wish your dog to be exercised off lead) but always after a period two days, while we become familiar with them, they with us & also the new surroundings. We usually test your dog’s recall response on a flexi-lead and in the security of our large garden before we commit to taking a him or her off the lead. The area your dog is let off the lead will always be a safe location away from any roads, livestock & obvious hazards. All our guests are supplied with dog tags with our telephone number on them during their stay.
Do I need to live in the area for my dog to stay with you?
Not at all, however we do have a policy to meet you and your dog first to ensure he or she will be happy in our home environment and get along with our own friendly collie. It also gives you the opportunity to inspect our premises and be assured that your dog is going to enjoy its stay with us.
Is there a minimum or maximum stay for home boarding?
No. We can take your dog for day boarding a single night or a fortnight or more.
Can you provide transport for my dog?
We do offer a pet taxi service. You can find the price details here.
